Based in Cairo, Yehia El Alaily is a British-Egyptian photographer specializing in food, travel, and lifestyle photography, with a passion for documentary work and culture and heritage preservation.
He has undertaken numerous commercial and editorial commissions across Egypt, the Middle East, and Europe, catering to a diverse clientele that includes luxury hotels, fast-moving consumer goods companies, and publishing houses. Some of his notable clients include Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Abercrombie and Kent, Starwood Hotels, Hilton International, Nestle, Hardees Arabia, Cinnabon, Americana, PUK, Americana GCC, CBC Sofra, El Beit magazine, Conde Nast, and BBC One, among others.
In 2017, he published Kitchen Memoirs, a book that delves into Egypt's rich and diverse culinary heritage. In 2022, he photographed Bel Hana, a best-selling Middle Eastern cookbook that celebrates the region's distinct flavors and culture. Collaborating with the UN World Food Programme, he photographed Empowering Women Through Cooking, a collective cookbook that promotes cooking as a means of women's empowerment, which was released in late 2022. Furthermore, he worked with two photographers to publish Downtown Cairo: The Stories and the Stories Within, a book that captures the authenticity of the area; his contribution to the book highlights the authentic restaurants and bars.
His publications are a testament to his commitment to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Egypt and the Middle East.
